PB&J Breakfast Bowl

Smoothie bowls are one of my favorite snacks! They are so easy because you can use practically anything in your refrigerator. I thought I would share with you the bowl I have been making a lot lately.
First, I blend a mixture of berries (blackberries, raspberries and strawberries) with water and some lemon juice. This is totally customizable based on what you like. I’ve been loving making this in large batches and storing to make it an even easier snack!
I then pour what I want in a bowl and add in peanut better (you can add in whatever nut butter you prefer). This is awesome because it adds protein and will keep you full for longer. I know it may sound weird, but it is soooo yummy. I don’t even like PB&J sandwiches that much but absolutely love this combo!
I then like to top mine with some vanilla almond granola from Trader Joe’s and whatever fresh fruit I have.

Motivation for your Monday

Somedays you just don’t want to go to the gym and although it is good to give your body a break, it’s best to not go more than three days without working out so, here are my tips on what to do if you’re in a workout rut.

  1. Ask a friend to hit up the gym with you! This is always my go-to when I need motivation to go to the gym because my friend will give me that extra push that I need. They help keep you accountable. I look forward to working out with my small group for CHAARG every week 🙂
  2. Change up your routine. This is a HUGE one. Doing the same thing over and over again can get boring and only works a fraction of the muscles in your body. Change up your workouts to keep them fun.
  3. Find some new music. A good workout jam always gets me to run a little faster and longer so change up your workout playlist by finding some new tunes.

One of my favorite things to do is to put on a fun workout video and dance with my roommates. Check this one out 🙂 This is especially nice when I start to feel stressed and overwhelmed.

Make sure that you are listening to your body. If you’re at the gym and only putting in 50% cause your body is tired, take a break. Pushing your body too hard can cause injury and can quickly put you in a rut. Take the day off and go 100% tomorrow.

TOP THREE: Favorite workout places in Madison

1. KAMPS

One of the BEST workouts you will ever have. There’s a reason they call it high intensity interval training! Classes have different focuses like legs, arms and core but they all incorporate cardio and push you to be better. Don’t worry if you don’t have one near you, they are expanding and with the support it has gotten thus far, it shouldn’t be long until there’s one near you.

2. CYC

Why go to the psychologist if you can go to the cycologist? These 45 minute workouts have you working hard while inspiring you to be your best self. The way they address the mind and not just the body is something I can totally get on board with!

3. The Barre Code

When I started this workout I thought “oh okay this will be easy,” I was very wrong. Though you may not being doing the high intensity cardio you do at KAMPS or CYC, you will be burning after a class here. I loved this class because I felt like I was really working my muscles and it helped me realize that you don’t need anything fancy in order to get a good workout in.
